Paintings you can hold...

Childish Sacrifies

Children have an innate instinct to perceive the world through touch, and this instinct has stayed with me. I have pursued this urge through painting, especially in my latest series of tangible paintings, Childish Sacrifices. Childish Sacrifices is a body of work made to reclaim my failures. The pieces begin from the paintings I view unnervingly, fond of parts but unsatisfied with them altogether. The work's construction holds violent undertones. I start by gouging out staples from the wooden stretchers, ripping the canvas off their bones and cutting them apart only to reconfigure them. I recompose images of myself or illustrations from my life, making the process feel sacrificial, ultimately to reincarnate the dismembered works. Due to the nature of the pieces' fabrication, they demand to be recognized as paintings one can hold rather than decorated garments. From this ripping and mending emerges revived one-off paintings you can hold.

Mission

My goal is to allow painting to become more accessible, bridging the gap between fine arts and the ordinary consumer in an ethical and creative way. Through this, I am learning from failure and encouraging growth.
